Muslims have achieved immense advances in science since the birth of Islam. Islam has a great impact on modern science. Islam is the religion of facts and knowledge that teaches us the right ways and guides us through every aspects of life. In other words, you can say that science and Islam are interconnected to each other. Islam has been leading a great impact on modern science not only this, but influences science researchers to innovate more data related to Islam.
Furthermore, previous decades taught us that Islam is the real way of living life. Similarly, Islam has made a great impact on the scientific world in many fields of life.
How Islamic world influenced Europe?
The Islamic World influenced Europe during the Middle Ages, paving the way for the Renaissance and the Scientific Revolution. Islam and Muslims influenced Europe in several ways during the Middle Ages like art, agriculture, language, technology and law. And one of the most significant of these subjects was Science.
There is a conflict between religions that Science and Islam are not linked together, but the reality is that Islam already told us the facts of life and the formation of world and its system. Allah has created everything of this world, the skies, the earths, the stars, the sun, the moon and everything in between. Whereas Science is still proving all these and doing researches about the world that how it has been formed.
Islam always guide us the best ways to get knowledge and wisdom. It always emphasizes to learn and seek knowledge even if you have to go far away. Allah created human being and made superior to all other creatures just because of the power of knowledge.
The Prophet Mohammad encouraged Muslims to be active in their pursuit of knowledge, even if it required crossing oceans and countries. ‘Seeking knowledge is obligatory and duty upon every Muslim’
Sunan Ibn Majah 224
Civilization was based in cities like Baghdad, Cordoba, Damascus, and Cairo. These cities were thriving, and Muslim scientists achieved enormous advances for applied and theoretical Science and Technology. There are many Muslim scientists including Jabir Bin Hayaan Ibn-el- Haitham, Al-Khwarizmi, Al-Beruni, ibn-e-Seena, or Aveecena who made science easy and thriving for us. They provided us depth-understanding regarding science.
Facts about Islam and modern science
The importance of getting knowledge is emphasized in Quran many times such as:
- “Allah will exalt those of you who believe and know to high degrees” (Verse 58:11).
- “Oh Lord! Increase in my Knowledge” (Quran 20: 1114), and “As God has taught him, so let him write” (Quran 2:282).
- Such Verses influence and develop more interest in the scientific community to learn more about science and Islam.
- Moreover, I consider the point “And of Knowledge, you have been given only a little. (Quran 17:85)
As an inspiration and encouragement to do more research and invent for the global community.
Facts about the science that has linked with Islam
Water: The most abundant compound on Earth
Indeed, we made every living via water, will they believe?
(Surah: AL Anbiya, Quran, 21:30)
The Microscope discovered that our living body consists of water, our intracellular and extracellular systems, and even our tiny drop of tears are a compound of water and salts.
This example mentioned in Quran is the truth about our body, but only true believers will understand the signs.
Honey: The best healing product
The noble Quran says, “Honey has healing properties.” Honey is a righteous reward among believers. (Quran 47:15).
And according to scientific knowledge, Honey is considered to Wound healing properties and take as a nutritional supplement for various purposes. Along with Nutritional supplements as a traditional substance for cold and sore throat for many years.
Fennel flower seeds: kalonji seeds
According to the messenger of Allah, Prophet Muhammad informed his companions about the benefits of fennel flower seeds (Kalonji). It has numerous benefits and curing of all diseases except death. And according to research, the scientific name of the black seed is “Nigella Sativa,” which grows in many parts of south Asia, Northern Africa, and the Arabian Peninsula.
Following are some properties of fennel flower seeds.
These black seeds contain many;
- Vitamins including Vitamin A, B, and C.
- It is also composed of essential properties such as Anti-oxidants, antihistamines, and antimicrobial properties. Instead of Nutritional value, it has some Multi-disciplinary properties.
- Black seed benefits the stomach and digestive health in many ways. It aids in the digestion of food, has carminative and diuretic properties, and keeps the digestive system in the best shape.
- The daily use of black seed also influences and regulates menstruation.
- It increases the production of lactose in milk.
- Black seed also works as a stimulant and increases the flow of adrenaline energy.
- Kalonji is also beneficial for boosting and managing a healthy immune system.
- Research has also suggested that black seed works effectively for cancers and breast cancer.
Embryology: The science of Embryo
In Surah Al-Mu’minun, Allah (SWT) says, “We created man from purified clay. Then we made him a drop in a place of settlement, firmly stuck. Then we made the drop into a leech, a suspended thing, and a blood clot in Arabic, Alaqah, then we made the alaqah into a chewed substance or in Arabic mudghah.
And if we relate the above verse to the scientific world, it’s no doubt that all human beings, animals, and every little organism are made of an embryo.
(Fused with the sperm and ovaries of a male and female). How can we disagree with the old relationship between Islam and science?
Protection layer of the sky
“We made sky as protect ted ceiling”, but, they from its sign, are turning away.
Al-Quran Surah-AL Anbiya 21:32
And it has been revealed without any clarification that skies are composed of many gases. Earth’s ozone layers protect all invisible emitted energy rays. Additionally, the skies also constantly weather and maintain our Temperature too.
The connection between two Seas
It is stated in Surah Al-Rehman that “He released two seas, joined, between them is a Barrier. (Quran, 55. 19:20).
Science discovered that there are two famous seas together and still are not mixed and separated via a barrier. Their density, Temperature, and, alkalinity vary. Indeed, Our Allah is very Great and magnificent and created two seas that don’t mix.
Pain as a Receptor
Allah Almighty says in Surah Al-Nisa, “We will send those who refuse our revelations to the (hell) fire. When their skins (dermis) have burned away, we will replace them with new ones so they may gradually feel them: God is almighty, all-wise.”
(Surah Al-Nisa, Quran, 4:56)
According to medical science, we have many receptors in our biological systems that, when activated, send a message to the brain, causing our sensory organs to sense pain. When we touch a hot object, our skin irritates, and we suffer from internal damage, so we feel pain. As we delve deeper into the Quran and relate it to the scientific world, we shall get deeper into the ocean of knowledge since we cannot feel pain without these sensory receptors.
CONCLUSION
In a nutshell, science means the acknowledgment of living, organic, inorganic, anything that develop an interest in depth, and Islamic history is the best example of great science. We must learn, take an interest, and research to gain knowledge.
As Muslims, we are blessed to have Quran with us, a complete guide for our life. It is our responsibility to read and practice it in our daily life as it teaches us the ways of science. Islam has taught us or disclosed many secrets of the world in the Quran while Science is still discovering them.
This article ends with my point of view with this quote and with authentic references to relate both Islamic and scientific knowledge.
Islamic civilization and culture can enhance their roles in real life if they follow the rules, not only this, they may become leaders of Islamic civilizations. Numerous researchers can find and solve complex situations if they interlink science and Islam.
Science and religion are two real keys that we use to open the treasures of the universe. Man benefits from science, but he lives with religion.”
