The Miraculous Journeys of Prophet’s Life

The miraculous journeys of our beloved Prophet’s life are memorable and full of wisdom. Allah has already given some signs in the previous Holy Scriptures about the miraculous journeys of prophet’s life.

In the Holy Quran, Allah the almighty says,

“And remember when Eesa, the son of Maryam, said, ‘O Children of Israel! I am Allah’s messenger towards you, confirming the Book; the Tawrah, which was before me and giving glad tidings of a (great) Messenger who will come after me; named Ahmed.’

Surah As-Saff, verse 6

The Most Benevolent Allah had given the glad tidings and signs of His Last Prophet’s arrival in the previous Holy books. The scholars of those books were able to notice those signs present with Prophet Muhammad ﷺ even in his very young age. The same happened during the Prophet’s miraculous journeys to Syria.

The first miraculous journey to Syria

At the age of around 12 years, our greatest Prophet Muhammad ﷺ went on his first memorable journey to Syria (Sham) with his uncle abu Talib on a trade trip. When they reached the city of Basra, there lived a Christian monk known as Buhaira Rahib. He was a religious scholar and had tremendous knowledge of the signs of Last Prophet’s arrival. Allah has already mentioned those signs in Holy Scriptures.

When the caravan reached near his monastery, he recognized the last Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. He held the Prophet’s blessed hand and said, “This is the leader of all human beings and Allah’s messenger. He is the mercy of Allah towards all the worlds.” People asked him about how he knew that, he replied, “when your caravan was arriving, each and every tree and rock was prostrating. The trees and rocks do not prostate anyone except the Messenger of Allah. I also can recognize him from his Seal of Prophethood (Mohr-e-Nubuwwat) which is present between his shoulders.” Then the monk feasted the whole caravan.

At that time Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was herding the camels. Buhaira Rahib sent a person to bring him to the feast. When the Last Messenger of Allah was arriving, a cloud was crafting shadow on him. Then he sat under a tree and its shadow moved towards him. Noticing all these miraculous signs, the monk asked, “Who is the guardian of this boy?” People told him that was abu Talib. The Rahib came to Abu Talib and said, “You must take him back to Makkah otherwise if you move forward, may be the Jewish would kill him.” So Abu Talib refrained from traveling ahead and brought his exclusively marvelous nephew back to Makkah.

“And indeed, it is publicized in the earlier Books. And was this not a sign for them, that the scholars of the Children of Israel recognize this Prophet?”

Surah al-Shu’ara, verse 196-197

The second beneficial journey to Syria

At the age of around twenty-five years, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ became well known among people as Sadiq (truthful) and Ameen (trustworthy). In Makkah, there was a respectable wealthy businesswoman named Khadija binte Khuwailid, who was impressed by the fame of Prophet’s appealing virtues. She offered him to take her trade caravan to Syria and she will pay him the double as she pays to others.

Muhammad The Trustworthy ﷺ accepted the offer and went on the journey with a servant of Khadija named, Maisara. When they reached the market of Basra, a monk, who was familiar with Maisara, asked him about Prophet Muhammad, who was resting under a tree. Maisara told him that he was a Qureshi. The monk told him that nobody rest under this tree except the Messengers of Allah. The monk interrogated Maisara if that Qureshi has redness in his eyes and Maisara confessed. Then the monk said, “This is the one, this is the Last Messenger. I wish if I could be with him when he will declear his Prophethood.”

After finishing his job with gains and profits, the truthful Messenger of Allah traveled back to Makkah. When their caravan entered the city, Khadija was looking it from an upper story of a house. She saw that two angels were making shadow for the Prophet to keep him protected from sunlight. Maisara told her that he was watching this miracle throughout their journey and also informed her about the sayings of the monk. Khadija realized that this is the messenger towards all the creations of God.

Exclusive Journey of Prophet’s Marital Life

Khadija binte Khuwailid was a widow and known as Tahira among the people of Makkah because she was a chaste and generous woman. She was impressed with the excellent virtuous qualities as well as the miraculous signs of prophecy of the Prohpet. That’s why she proposed him for marriage with the help of another woman. The noble Prophet accepted the proposal with the consent of his uncles.

This was the start of journey of Prophet’s marital life and Khadija-tul-Kubra (may Allah be pleased with her) was his first life partner and the first mother of the believers. At the time of this marriage the age of Sayeda Khadija was forty years while the King of the Prophet hood was twenty five years old. She gave all her wealth and property in the hands of the Noble Prophet. Respected Khadija lived for twenty five years in Prophet’s glorious life and gave birth to his two sons and four daughters including Syeda Fatima Zahra.

Hazrat Khadija was the first woman who endorsed the Prophecy of Allah’s Last Messenger ﷺ and accepted Islam on his blessed hand. The Noble Prophet Muhammad ﷺ loved his wife very much and he did not marry any other woman during her life.

(al Seeratul Halbia, vol.1, pg.199)

Hazrat Khadija while telling to her noblest beloved husband the reason of marrying him, she said, “I liked you because of your courtesy and truthfulness.”

(Zurqani ‘alal mawahib, vol.1, pg.200)

In the Holy Quran, Allah the Almighty says about His beloved Prophet,

“And (O’ Beloved!), your (excellent) character is undoubtedly of a superb standard.”
